Mangrove Hotel deal a no-go

The iconic Mangrove Hotel is back on the market for the second time this year after a deal to sell it to an international buyer fell through.

The 68-room hotel was listed for sale in January, attracting expressions of interest from buyers in Broome, Perth and overseas.

Sales agent Peter Robertson says despite the setback, the interest in tourism assets in the region generally is promising.

"I don't think that has ... abated. I think you would find that the level of interest for tourism assets through the north-west is much stronger, for example, than it would be for the tourism assets through the south-west of the state," he said.

"The fact that we had very strong interest from multiple parties ... [for] such an iconic site if anything would show that there is strong demand and strong interest in northern towns, including Broome, and I don't think that has abated."
