Registered clubs deliver record $127m in community support

More than 7600 charities and community groups have benefited from $127 million worth of ClubGRANTS funding in the past 12 months, with each recipient receiving an average grant of almost $9000.

Registered clubs contributed over $47 million more than what is mandated by the ClubGRANTS Guidelines, highlighting the extent to which clubs go above and beyond to support their local communities.

The record $127 million funding, comprising Category 1 and Category 2 funding, represents a $7 million year-on-year increase.

The Guidelines are determined by the NSW Government and are overseen by Liquor & Gaming NSW. ClubGRANTS fall into three categories:

  • Category 1: Allocated by clubs to projects/services that contribute to the welfare and broader social fabric of the local community, including community welfare and social services, community development, community health services and employment assistance activities.
  • Category 2: Allocated by clubs to community development and supports activities and projects not listed under Category 1, and/or a club's core activities e.g. sport, returned servicemen's league or veteran welfare, golf courses and bowling greens.
  • Category 3: Infrastructure Grants administered by the Office of Responsible Gambling.

Some of the community beneficiaries of the ClubGRANTS program in 2025 include:

Category 1

  • $606,000 to women's shelters across the state, such as the Bayside Women's Shelter, Biyani House Revesby Women's Shelter and Great Lakes Women's Shelter, to support women and children experiencing domestic violence and homelessness
  • $350,000 to the veterans-led organisation Frontline Labs Australia, to help retired defence force personnel transition into the business world
  • $436,000 to the Clontarf Foundation to improve the education, discipline, life skills and employment prospects of young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men

Category 2

  • $500,000 to Sydney Children's Hospitals Foundation to provide children with access to the best possible healthcare, whenever and wherever they need it
  • $330,000 to Macarthur FC Foundation to deliver programs which assist disadvantaged families, using football as the catalyst for change
  • $210,000 to Gotcha4Life Foundation to build more mentally fit communities through preventative mental health programs

ClubGRANTS is one of Australia's largest and most established grant programs and is a partnership between ClubsNSW and the NSW Government. It commenced in 1998 to formalise the longstanding practice of clubs responding and contributing to local community needs.

ClubsNSW CEO Rebecca Riant said the ClubGRANTS program has now delivered more than $1.7 billion in community benefits since its inception.

"ClubGRANTS is a fantastic program that supports a wide range of charities and community groups within a club's local area, many of whom would not be able to provide the breadth of essential services without this funding. From domestic violence shelters to veterans' welfare centres, these are community assets that look after some of our most vulnerable members of society," said Ms Riant.

"The program also makes participation in sport, recreation and other activities more accessible and affordable for hundreds of thousands of community members - from junior footballers and netballers through to veterans, bowlers and golfers who are seeking social connection.

"ClubGRANTS is just one of the many ways that the club industry makes our communities a better place to live. Clubs also collectively support more than 75,000 jobs across the state and host approximately 120,000 free events every year."

Eligibility for ClubGRANTS funding is determined in accordance with the Guidelines set by the NSW Government, which are regularly updated in response to community feedback. All applications are reviewed by local ClubGRANTS Committees that make recommendations for funding.
