Seafood cashback nets a lifeline for South Coast & Coorong operators

South Coast and Coorong seafood traders are set for a timely lift, with the state’s Dining Cashback scheme widening to cover seafood retailers as well as coastal hospitality venues.

From today, South Australians can enter the first ballot for a chance to claim up to $50 back on eligible seafood purchases or meals at participating cafes, pubs, and restaurants along the coast.

The move arrives after a tough winter-spring period for local operators following the River Murray algal bloom crisis, which dampened consumer confidence.

Meningie-based Coorong Wild Seafood said in late August it was selling less than a third of its usual catch.

The inaugural draw—allocating 60,000 cashbacks—will be held on Monday, 10 November, with subsequent draws running monthly through to March. Successful entrants will receive a unique code and can claim their rebate by uploading a receipt and transaction details to the Dining Cashback website.

More than 265 South Australian businesses have signed on to the program, delivered under the Albanese and Malinauskas governments’ Summer Plan.
