ClubsNSW has welcomed the latest round of Minns Labor Government vibrancy reforms, which will make it easier for clubs to host live entertainment and activate outdoor spaces for community events.

As the club industry's peak body, ClubsNSW has engaged closely with the NSW Government throughout the reform process, and appreciates the collaborative approach taken by Minister John Graham and Minister Paul Scully in consulting with the club sector.

The new Cultural State Environmental Planning Policy will enable clubs to increase their capacity by up to 30 per cent, as well as hold indoor and outdoor entertainment activities without undergoing an unnecessary and lengthy planning pathway. These changes will give clubs greater flexibility to host live performances and make use of outdoor spaces such as bowling greens - ensuring more vibrant and diverse entertainment options for local communities.

Clubs across NSW already offer a wide range of entertainment and creative activities, from live music and stand-up comedy to cabaret performances and family-friendly children's shows. On average, the state's clubs host approximately 15,000 complimentary events each month for members and guests, underscoring their vital role in local community life.

The policy changes support the Government's wider vibrancy agenda, which has already seen clubs able to admit local residents living within five kilometres of the venue as visitors, and has also seen the establishment of a fairer system for managing noise complaints.

"These reforms are an important recognition of the role clubs play in fostering entertainment, creativity and community spirit," said ClubsNSW Chair Sallianne Faulkner.

"We are grateful to the NSW Government for their commitment to supporting vibrant community experiences and we look forward to working more closely with them to further strengthen the industry's contribution to local communities and to ensure that clubs remain hubs of entertainment, inclusion and creativity," Ms Faulkner said.
