Police charge woman after alleged assault outside Sydney restaurant

Police have charged a 21-year-old woman following an alleged assault that left another woman with facial and limb injuries outside a Sydney CBD restaurant.

Authorities said the incident occurred about 11.30pm on Friday at Capital Square on George Street, when a 33-year-old woman was allegedly verbally abused by the younger woman inside the venue.

When the victim left the restaurant, she was allegedly threatened and assaulted, sustaining scratches to her face and injuries to her arms and legs. Officers from Sydney City Police Area Command began investigating the matter.

Following inquiries, police arrested a 21-year-old woman at a Liverpool Street unit about 12.30am on Wednesday. She was taken to Day Street Police Station and charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

The woman was refused bail and is due to appear before Bail Division Local Court on Wednesday.

Police confirmed investigations into the incident are continuing.
