50 Best Bar Sago House comes to Songbird to host a special edition of 
Twilight Tails for Perth Cocktail Weekend

Ranked #15 on Asia’s 50 Best Bars, Sago House will take over Songbird Bar on 22 August as part of a city wide series of mixology activations during Perth Cocktail Weekend.

Perth’s iconic open-air cocktail destination, Songbird Bar, will host a special edition of its Twilight Tails cocktail series in partnership with Sago House for Perth Cocktail Weekend this Friday 22 August from 6pm - 8pm.

Travelling to Perth from Singapore, Sago House Creative Director Ronan Keilthy and Head Bartender Naz Zurimi will take to the bar at Songbird to serve up some of the cocktails that earned the bar a coveted #15 spot on Asia’s 50 Best Bars list.

Sago House, a standout in Singapore’s cocktail scene, has earned international acclaim for its inventive drinks, warm hospitality, and rebellious charm. Born during the 2020 lockdown in Singapore as a concept by Jay Gray, Desiree Jane Silva and Abhishek C. George, Sago House was built largely by hand using 80% upcycled materials. Through a relocation in 2023 to the bustling centre of Duxton Hill, Sago House retained its handcrafted charm, irreverent spirit and commitment to heartfelt hospitality. The eclectic menu features six stalwart cocktails and runs a rotating weekly selection of cocktails created from produce found in the locality along with some simple tasty bites. Since opening, it has earned accolades including a spot on Asia’s 50 Best Bars and an appearance on the World’s 50 Best Bars list in 2024, cementing its status as a must-visit destination for cocktail lovers.

At the Twilight Tails takeover at Songbird, Naz Zurimi and Ronan Keilthy will serve a bold and playful selection of signature cocktails that reflect the bar’s inventive spirit. Highlights include Basilisk, a refreshing vegetal blend of Don Julio Blanco, basil, grapefruit, elderflower, and sparkling wine; Jack of All Trades, a tropical, herbaceous mix of Johnnie Walker Dark Ruby, jackfruit, falernum, aquavit, lemon, and mint; Writer’s Block, a savoury, complex serve with Ketel One, cucumber, mint, dry vermouth, cumin, and yoghurt; and Ba Kwa, a smoky and indulgent tribute to the iconic snack, combining Johnnie Walker Dark Ruby with ba kwa, dark chocolate, bitters, and a touch of Caol Ila 12.

Launched earlier this year, Twilight Tails is a cocktail series that brings some of the world’s top bars and bartenders to Perth for a curated lineup of one-night-only experiences - offering a rare opportunity for Perth locals and visitors to experience world-class cocktails without leaving the city. This special edition on 22 August forms a part of the Perth Cocktail Weekend festivities - a two-day series of mixology pop ups throughout the city from 22 to 23 August as part of foodie festival Plateful Perth.

Across the city, Terrarium, Mechanics Institute & Bar Lafayette will also host takeover events with leading Australian bars on Saturday 23 August. Terrarium will see Sydney’s Bar Demo bring unpretentious flair and standout cocktails to the bar; Bar Lafayette will bring fun, island vibes with a selection of rum based cocktails from Hobart’s Rude Boy, and Mechanic’s Institute will get a nostalgic touch from Sydney rock 'n' roll dive bar Little Cooler, by The Maybe Sammy crew and cocktail wizard Matt Whiley. 

This weekend of unique collaborations promises to bring an unforgettable celebration of the art of mixology to Perth, bringing some of the region’s very best and most exciting bars for a standout weekend.
