Manly Wharf’s foodie glow-up continues with Felons team
The team behind Brisbane’s Howard Smith Wharves has brought a double dose of change to the harbourside hotspot, starting with a full makeover of the long-loved Wharf Bar.
Reopened as Felons Manly, the revamped venue now offers over 150 extra seats, a refreshed food menu, leafy interiors and a solid lineup of brews from Felons Brewing Co. And while the taps pour Brisbane beers for now, fingers crossed a local drop will sneak its way in soon.
Now, there’s more fresh flavour to come, with Felons Seafood officially throwing open its doors in the former Bavarian site. The spacious 300-seat venue takes full advantage of its waterfront perch with indoor-outdoor dining and views across Manly Cove.
“We feel very fortunate to play a role in the ongoing revitalisation of Manly Wharf,” Adam Flaskas, co-founder and director of Artemus Group said.
“With Felons Seafood, our hope was to create something that feels true to Manly – a relaxed, welcoming space where people can enjoy fresh local seafood and take in the beauty of the harbour. It’s a simple, coastal venue shaped by the warmth and spirit of the locals.”
The kitchen is in capable hands with Luke Bourke, a Palawa man and head chef, teaming up with Corey Costelloe – known for his work at Rockpool and now behind Marrickville favourite 20 Chapel. The duo is championing Aussie produce and sourcing straight from local fishers and growers.
From native kelp-dressed oysters to Queensland mud crab with black pepper and curry leaf sauce, the menu celebrates the coast. There’s even a nostalgic winter trifle with port wine–poached plums. And for purists, yes – you can still get classic fish and chips, but with a Felons twist.
Drinks lean fresh and fun, including Australia’s “coldest lager” – the Felons Super Cold Crisp, poured at -2°C. There’s also a Salt and Vinegar Martini and a striking Yuzu Break cocktail, with plenty of crisp whites and rosés to match the seafood.
“This picturesque location is the perfect backdrop for what we see as a new spiritual home for Felons – a space that champions simplicity, fresh Australian seafood and our passion for great beer,” Dean Romeo, brand director for Felons Brewing Co., said.
