Man dies after fall from Adelaide rooftop bar 2KW
A man has died following a fall from the rooftop of the popular 2KW Bar and Restaurant in Adelaide’s central business district.
Emergency services responded to reports of the incident at approximately 4:00pm on Sunday, after the man fell from the eighth-floor venue on King William Street, near the intersection with North Terrace.
The response included three police vehicles, two ambulances and four Metropolitan Fire Services units. Authorities cordoned off the area, causing significant disruption near the city’s northern edge for several hours.
The Adelaide Advertiser reported that police forensic officers conducted fingerprint analysis at the rooftop bar as part of their investigation.
Situated on top of a heritage-listed former bank building, 2KW Bar is a well-known hospitality venue in Adelaide, offering elevated views of key city landmarks including the Adelaide Oval, River Torrens and the surrounding parklands.
The venue’s owner, Martin Palmer, has previously emphasised its popularity among locals and tourists alike, saying, “People from Adelaide, when they have interstate or overseas guests, they take them to 2KW because (the view) is iconic and showcases the city.”
South Australia Police confirmed in a statement shortly before 6:00pm that King William Street had been reopened to the public.
