Golden Boy restaurant warns customers of deposit

The owners of Golden Boy restaurant in Adelaide have warned customers of a new scam that asks for a $150 deposit to confirm their reservation.

The popular Thai eatery owners emailed patrons on Tuesday alerting them to the scam and saying they are “actively investigating the situation”.

“This email is a scam and was not sent by us. We do not request deposits via email, and any communication from our team will always come from our official email addresses,” the email said.

“We are taking this matter very seriously and are actively investigating the situation, including how this has occurred and how we can prevent it from happening again.

“We deeply regret any confusion or concern this may have caused. Your trust means everything to us, and we want to reassure you that we are doing everything possible to protect your information and ensure your experience with Golden Boy is safe and enjoyable.”

The owners have reported the scam to the “relevant authorities”, and encouraged diners to contact the restaurant or the Nation Anti-Scam Centre if they have received or responded to the fraudulent email.

“Thank you for your understanding and for being a part of the Golden Boy community. We’re grateful for your support,” the Thai eatery said in their email.
