Sunshine Coast workers awarded thousands in back-pay

The Fair Work Ombudsman has helped workers on Queensland's Sunshine Coast recover more than $87,000 in back-pay.

They include a 22-year-old Maroochydore apprentice who received $30,000 after he was underpaid the minimum hourly rate and annual leave entitlements between 2007 and 2011.

Thirteen hospitality workers at Coolum received $19,000 in back-pay for being underpaid the minimum hourly rate and penalty rates.

The Ombudsman says the businesses have fixed the errors that led to the underpayments.
