Record number of club contributions recognised

NSW clubs have once again demonstrated their pivotal role in communities right across the state, submitting a record number of stories of kindness and generosity in the prestigious Clubs & Community Awards, with 139 worthy finalists announced this week.

The awards recognise the outstanding social contributions made by clubs in their local areas and more broadly in the following nine categories: Arts, Culture & Entertainment; Education; Emergency Services; Fostering Grassroots Sport; Health Care; Heart of the Community; Mental Wellbeing; Social Inclusion and Environmental Sustainability.

ClubsNSW CEO Rebecca Riant said she was thrilled by the record number, and exceptional quality, of submissions for the 2024 Clubs & Community Awards.

“From Barooga Sports Club on the Victoria-New South Wales border right up to Ballina RSL in the Northern Rivers region, dozens of clubs submitted amazing stories that encapsulate the unwavering compassion and support that clubs provide their communities day after day,” Ms Riant said.

“We received submissions from clubs who go above and beyond to provide sporting facilities and opportunities for those with special needs or disabilities, who have created unique programs to support the mental health of veterans, or even funded the university education of those less fortunate.

“I am so proud to represent an industry that looks after its communities in the vast and diverse ways that clubs do, and I can’t wait for their efforts to be recognised publicly.

“Best of luck to the 139 finalists — you are all winners in my eyes!”

A full list of the finalists can be found here.

The winners will be announced at the Clubs & Community Awards Night at the International Convention Centre (ICC) Sydney on Thursday, 6 June 2024.
