Network Nine will soon launch a new cooking show featuring celebrity chef Gordon Ramsey and Boost Juice founder Janine Allis.

Food Stars is an Apprentice-style cooking competition that sees contestants compete for $250,000 worth of investment to kick-start their hospitality businesses.

Contestants will be broken into two teams led by Ramsay and Allis, with teams pitching their best 'food and drink' business ideas to the pair. They must also face demanding challenges, with the loser to face what is likely to be a heavy critique from Ramsay and Allis.

Tests will be based on customer service, sales, marketing, branding and event management.

Ramsay launched the format last year in the US.

In one Australian segment Ramsay says, “I didn't travel 12 and-a-half thousand miles to come second best”.

Meanwhile, Allis can be seen saying: “We've got to beat frickin' Ramsay”.

One contestant is a personal chef to Madonna. That doesn’t impress Ramsay who tells the contestant she “wants her chef back”.

The show is produced by Studio Ramsay Global in partnership with Endemol Shine Australia.

Gordon Ramsay's Food Stars premieres on Tuesday, March 26 on Channel 9 and 9Now.
