Como’s Chin Chin Gastronomy has been forced to close after fire gutted the WA venue.

The fire was so intense it blew out a window and collapsed the ceiling.

Firefighters were called to the blaze at about 2am on Monday, with the fire suspected to be caused by a short-circuiting wall light.

The fire also spread to the chicken shop next door.

Owner Chin To took to social media to announce the restaurant would close “forever”.

“We are grateful that no one was harmed but unfortunately the damage is extensive and we must make the difficult decision to close our doors forever.

“We want to express our deepest gratitude to each and every one of you for your unwavering support and patronage over the years.

“Although this chapter may be ending, we want you to know this is not the end of our journey.

“We are already planning to return with a new venture under different names.”

The restaurant has been open since 2020 and gained a big following for its degustation-style menu.

To told PerthNow, “It’s not just a restaurant; it’s been a culinary journey and a platform to share what I’ve learned and the food I’m passionate about.

“Over the years, Chin Chin has taught me invaluable lessons about hospitality, creativity and resilience.

“It’s where I’ve honed my skills, crafted dishes that I believe in and shared them with our wonderful patrons.

“Despite the recent setback of the fire, Chin Chin remains a symbol of perseverance and community.”
