A Movenpick hotel is set to open its doors in Hobart

Australia’s first Movenpick hotel is set to open its doors in Hobart mid-January, after a hotel management agreement was signed between Swiss hospitality brand Movenpick and Singaporean hospitality group Global Premium Hotels.

The hotel on Hobart’s Elizabeth Street will boast 221 rooms and will attract both corporate and leisure travellers.

All guestrooms have panoramic views and are situated on floors 4 to 18.

The common areas are located on the first three floors and were designed by agency Greymatters.

Movenpick is unique in that it has its own branded range of food and beverages. This even includes Movenpick ice cream.

Global Premium Hotels chairman James Koh said in a statement that they selected the Movenpick brand for the Hobart hotel as it complemented the company’s 70-year culinary legacy.

On Monday, STR, which provides market data on the hotel industry worldwide, including supply and demand and market share data, released research that shows improvements in the Australian hotel sector since October, showing that occupancy levels were the highest for any month in Australia since the pandemic started in February.

It is predicted that Australia is set to be a top destination for many travellers in the coming months and years, which justifies Movenpick’s move into the region.

In 2019, Australia was the place to be for the world’s cashed-up individuals with 12,000 arriving on our shores.

Movenpick city and resort hotels are located in more than 82 locations across Africa, Asia, Europe and the Middle East.
