Python found hiding in cafe coffee machine

A café owner at Crescent Head on the New South Wales Mid North Coast got a nasty shock when he found a two metre long snake curled up inside his coffee machine.

"One hundred per cent we've been making coffee with a python in the machine," said Bush Kitchen owner Kim Fayfie. "He didn't want to leave it.”

The new scaly guest was initially thought to be a pipe when Fayfie’s wife was cleaning the machine.

"She thought it might have been blocked or something, and she's looked again and thought, 'Hang on, we've got a bit of an issue here',” Fayfie said.

"We haven't got a mice problem at the moment, so he could have been there for a while."

The snake, a non-venomous diamond python also known as a carpet python, was coaxed out and slithered off into nearby bushland.

"We've actually had a couple of brown snakes sneaking into the toilet, we are in the middle of it all here, that's why it's so unique and beautiful," Fayfie said.
