Measles alert for diners at Melbourne hotspot

Diners who visited a Colonel Tan's restaurant at Melbourne nightclub Revolver Upstairs last week may have been exposed to measles.

The health authority warning came after a man in his 20s diagnosed with the infectious disease spent two hours at the restaurant on January 10.

"All diners who had made reservations with the restaurant have been contacted to be advised of the health department alert and all staff have been briefed on the signs and symptoms of measles," a spokeswoman said.

The spokeswoman said the man was not at the venue during the operating hours of Revolver Upstairs Bandroom and Nightclub.

It is believed that the man came into contact with someone who had caught measles while travelling in south-east Asia.

"It’s not home grown," said health department spokesman Bram Alexander.
