A new pub for North Sydney

All sorts of flash new pubs are opening

Merivale has started a new place, and then the Solotel Group with the Little Big House.

And now the  hospitality firm the Momento Group has come in.

It’s bringing a sleek new pub to Sydney’s North-West.

The pub will be open for business in Macquarie Park this July.

Rather than a dingy boozer, this pub will incorporate a bistro, a garden terrace, and a rooftop bar dubbed  Ess.  The rooftop will have a bar, kitchen, and 360-degree views of the surrounding district.

The interiors, designed by Edith Clark, are lavish.

It’s all lush greenery, with royal green tiles, plush stools and dark timbers.

There’s a long bar.

And right next to it, there are six booths adorned with gold.

The 160-seat bistro will have an open fireplace  which is perfect for those for chilly evenings.

And being Macquarie Park, there’s a portrait of the area’s namesake Governor Macquarie.

The portrait has pride of place as it’s the work of waitress Olivia Anderson.

The outdoorsy types will find seating on the accompanying garden terrace. The terrace is designed as a modern and rather refined take on the traditional beer garden.

The head chef is Luke Lashford, who used to work at Sheraton on the Park and The Australian Hotel and Brewery.

Lashford is focusing heavily on variety with offerings such as light bites for the terrace, wood-fired pizza at the bar, and heartier fare like slow-cooked Flinders Island lamb shoulder, a dish for two, in the bistro

“[It’s] the key to creating a pub where you’ll want to return time and time again,” he says. “And it’s exactly what The Governor is all about. It’s somewhere you can settle in no matter what the hour and be well fed and watered no matter where you decide to perch,” Lashford told delicious.
