RSL club could be named Australia’s best bathroom

The Merrylands RSL could soon be flushed with success.

And it might send a signal to those who refuse to pee in a public dunny.

Merrylands RSL could soon be deemed to have Australia’s most dazzling toilet with the club’s toilet in western Sydney nominated for the country’s 2018 Best Bathrooms Competition.

The Best Bathroom Facility competition is run by Total Facilities, Australia’s largest facilities management exhibition

The upgraded amenities block lies at the heart of the Merrylands RSL Club which already has almost 78,000 members.

And the fancy bathroom has been developed after the club went through the first $20 million-plus stage of its refurbishment.

According to the club’s operations manager Chris Debrincat, Merrylands has splashed out $295,000 on the toilets.

“We wanted something that has a five-star look and feel, and from a design point of view we wanted something that was luxurious but didn’t skimp in the areas of safety and efficiency,” Mr Debrincat told realestate.com.au.

The Merrylands loos are functional but fancy, overflowing with features.

The upgrade has turned the bathroom into something salubrious with a space featuring a mix of wall-to-ceiling metallic bronze and stone-look wall tiles as well as some leafy feature pieces.

The cubicles have been given self-closing partitions.

And the extra wide floor below the urinals means that spillage won’t be a problem.

And in the ladies, they have added some professional lighting around the custom mirrors put in to accommodate easy make up retouches. They have even created a spot designated for jackets, bags and phones.

As a result, Debricat says patrons have been full of praise for the mens, ladies, parents and ambulant loos.

The top toilets are to be announced next month.

“We absolutely have a great chance at winning this,” Mr Debrincat told realestate.com.au.

Last year, the award went to Brisbane International Airport Terminal.
