The Inspired Series heads to Camden in Sydney’s south west

The Inspired Series, a development program will head to Camden on Wednesday, 14 March with Monty Koludrovic from Icebergs and Paul Shephard from Campbelltown Catholic Club for its first talk in a school.

Aiming to encourage students to pursue careers in hospitality, the Inspired Series will take place at Camden High School in Sydney’s South West, with 250 hospitality students from high schools including, Camden, Mt Annan, Elizabeth Macarthur, Robert Townson and Picton, attending.

Monty Koludrovic, executive chef of Icebergs, and Paul Shephard, culinary director of Campbelltown Catholic Club, will join Luke Mangan, founder of The Inspired Series, for a one-hour Q&A about their careers in hospitality, and why they think hospitality is a great career.

The students will be undertaking an assessment day and will be spending time with Luke ahead of cooking a lunch which forms part of their overall assessment. Monty and Paul will also be in the kitchen with the students assisting them following the talk.

The Inspired Series is working with MWLP on this event. MWLP is a not for profit organisation focused on engaging a community of stakeholders to support youth in their personal and professional career development.

Luke Mangan said: “The hospitality industry has been a big part of my life, so for me it’s important to give something back to the industry that has given me so much. I can’t wait to get to Camden and meet 250 hospitality students who with our help, can shape Australia’s great hospitality industry in the future.”

The Inspired series has held events in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide, and there are plans for Inspired Series events in Noosa and other regional areas of NSW. The focus is on inspiring, educating and enabling entrepreneurship, leadership and knowledge.

The events take the form of Q&As with some of Australia’s best chefs for young chefs and hospitality students from TAFE, hospitality training institutes and secondary colleges across Australia. Massimo Bottura (Osteria Francescana), Brett Graham (The Ledbury), Daniel Humm (Eleven Madison Park), Peter Gilmore (Quay and Bennelong), Ross Lusted (The Bridge Room), Josh Niland (Saint Peter) Danielle Alvarez (Fred’s) and Jock Zonfrillo (Restaurant Orana) have already taken part in events.
