Perth gets a Wyndham hotel

The Wyndham group is expanding its West Australian footprint.

It has announced that its third Perth hotel will be opening in late 2018.

Significantly, it will be the group’s first Perth hotel under the upscale Wyndham brand managed by Resort Management by Wyndham, which currently has a further 11 properties across Australia. It has 28 hotels in Australia under its Wyndham, Ramada and TRYP by Wyndham brands. It is also expanding in South East Asia and the Pacific Rim.

The Wyndham LUX Perth will become the fifth Wyndham location in Australia, adding to a portfolio which has hotels in Sydney, Melbourne, the Gold Coast and Torquay, Victoria.

The 120 room hotel will be located on the corner of the Great Eastern Highway and Fitzroy Road, Wyndham LUX Perth.

It will offer a swimming pool, gym, meeting rooms, a restaurant and a rooftop bar with views of the Swan River.

Work on the site, developed by NXT TEC. Ltd., will commence in the second half of this year.

Wyndham is opening the new hotel with the boom in tourism to Western Australia.

According to Tourism Western Australia, international visitation to the state increased 12.4 per cent in the year ending December 2016. That is the highest international visitation reached for the state.

“We’re strategically expanding our flagship Wyndham brand in capital cities like Perth where there is a low supply – but increasing demand – for upscale accommodations,” Barry Robinson, President and Managing Director of Wyndham Hotel Group South East Asia and Pacific Rim told Hotel Management.

“Perth is a growing city visited by millions of interstate and international travellers every year, serving as the gateway to many tourist hotspots across Western Australia and Indonesia, where we now have seven hotels.

“We’ll continue to seek out the right opportunities to grow our presence in the region to offer travellers more options in leading business and leisure destinations.”
