Curtis Stone might open a restaurant in his home town
Australian celebrity chef Curtis Stone has been busy opening restaurants in Los Angeles, where he’s based these days.
His two Hollywood restaurants are named after his grandmothers Gwen and Maude.
But he’s not ruling out the prospect of him opening one in his home town of Melbourne.
Stone was raised in the Melbourne suburb of Essendon, bought up by a single mum, so he still has a lot of feeling for the place where it all began.
Stone still has an ambassadorship with Coles.
“I never say never,” Stone told the Herald Sun.
“It’s been a super full-on year opening my butcher shop and restaurant, Gwen.
“I’ve been lucky enough to work with my brother, Luke, on this project, who moved his whole family out to Los Angeles from Oz to open Gwen with me.
“Maude, my first restaurant I opened in Los Angeles. is about to go into its fourth year of operation, which is hard to believe.
“Am I ready to take on another restaurant? I’m not sure.
“Watch this space.”
Stone was in Melbourne for the Spring Carnival and was talking about his options before heading back to the United States to spend Halloween with the family.
Still, Stone and his wife US actor Lindsay Price are bringing their children Hudson and Emerson back here to spend some time in Australia over Christmas.
“I’m spending this Christmas Down Under and bringing along my wife and two boys, so we’re excited for a summer Christmas together with my parents,” he said.
And there’s plenty to take him back to the west coast of the US.
His restaurant Gwen has received rave reviews. Recently, it was named the hottest restaurant to eat at by an influential Los Angeles food blog.
