Anyone looking to chill out at a hotel that provides a little bit of rock’n’roll need go no further than the Boogie Woogie Beach House.

Located in the NSW mid-north coastal town of Old Bar about three and a half hours out of Sydney, it is Australia’s first music themed hotel.

The hotel’s Facebook page promotes all the events like the upcoming shows Tex Perkins & Ocean Rhythms.

It also has a news and updates service (the Flow Bar News) providing updates on special events & shows, accommodation specials.

“Want a NSW beach holiday that combines food and destination: where you can party to live music, eat like a king, stumble upstairs to your designer room, then wash away any evidence in the surf over the road next morning?”, the organisers write.

The hotel is located 100 metres from the beach.

Apart from in-house entertainment every Friday night and Sunday lunchtime, with performances from local and international acts, the rooms are special too.

There are rooms devoted to Nick Cave, Dave Grohl, David Bowie and Louis Armstrong. Each of the five rooms comes complete with its own bespoke bathroom. And of course, every room is tiled to resemble each respective musician. The rooms come with a private verandah overlooking the stage which, for music lovers, makes the venue pretty compelling.

Co-owner Stephen “Doss” Doessel says the visiting artists love it too.

"When the Celibate Rifles heard about Boogie Woogie they phoned us. They asked if they could stay and play a gig, as they wanted to go surfing."

His business partner David Craig, a former art director, sums the place up to a tee.

“We're not Hard Rock Cafe: more music-inspired than music-themed," Craig says.

The place also offers good food.

The chef Julie-Ann Booth has cooked for royalty The Sultan of Brunei, Queen Elizabeth, Princess Di, and Prince Charles, not to mention former Prime Ministers.
