Penny's Hill - the Wine of Choice for VAMFF 2016
Australia’s celeb-studded fashion circles are set to experience a true taste of McLaren Vale this month, with award-winning Penny’s Hill announced as official wine sponsor for the 2016 Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival (VAMFF).
Long a supporter of the arts in its native South Australia, Penny’s Hill is thrilled to announce the appointment and to bring their internationally renowned wines to such an iconic Australian event.
Head winemaker, Alexia Roberts says that she and the Penny’s Hill team are beyond thrilled to announce the partnership and for the opportunity to “swap work boots for heels” for Melbourne’s hottest annual fashion event.
In her recent interview with VAMFF, Roberts spoke of her excitement at being involved in one of the Australian fashion industry’s most prestigious events; explaining that when it comes to great wine making, innovation and style play a vital part in creating something special – just as they do in the fashion industry. “Whilst we often see trends in the wine industry, the most important part of my job is to ensure that our wines are made.. with purity, elegance and length”. “Inspiration can come from the most unusual places to achieve these results,” Roberts explains.
The VAMFF announcement comes hot on the tail of the winery’s recent swag of wins at leading international wine show, Mundus Vini, where Penny’s Hill took out top prizes for three of their 2014 vintage wines; winning Gold for the Edwards Road Cabernet Sauvignon and Skeleton Key Shiraz, with the 2014 Footprint Shiraz awarded the Grand Gold prize and taking the title of Best Australian Red Wine.
Penny’s Hill, situated in the heart of McLaren Vale, has firmly established itself as one of the region’s top vineyards. With its first batch of wine launched in 1995, Penny’s Hill now produces a range of acclaimed single vineyard, estate-grown wines each year. According to Roberts “Every step of the way, from tending the narrow-planted, low yielding vineyards through to hands-on winemaking, a meticulous approach ensures wines under the Penny’s Hill banner deliver an exceptional balance of texture, complexity and interest, with quality exceeding price, the ultimate objective”.
VAMFF runs from Monday 7 March through to Sunday 13 March 2016.
Wines from the Penny’s Hill range will be poured exclusively for guests in the festival’s VIP areas throughout the festival. Sibling label, Thomas Goss will be available in the VAMFF Festival Bar, located at the Festival Hub, every day during Festival week.
