Coffee-lover cafe opens outside Gladstone shopping centre

DEWY Drop, Gladstone's newest cafe opened yesterday at Stockland Gladstone and have been busy dishing out their personalised take-away cups ever since.

The new cafe is the dream of coffee-lovers Harry and Pene Dewhirst in their second home but where their heart really lies.

Mrs Dewhirst said she owned a cafe in Yarram in Victoria but moved to Gladstone after she married Mr Dewhirst and he got work with Rio Tinto in 2009.

She was happy to open another cafe and focus on the coffee and not the food with a small mobile station outside of Coles.

"This has been in the making for a couple of months," she said.

"We have a passion for coffee and our Clean Skin specialty blend should bring another flavour to Gladstone."

Mrs Dewhirst said she would be working behind the coffee machine with some extra female staff who knew how to make coffees.

Mr Dewhirst will man the machine on his days off from work.
