The Window Cnr Cafe making its mark on Reservoir
RESERVOIR is not a foodie’s destination by any stretch of the imagination, but one cafe is preparing to change that — one jaffle at a time.
Pedigree chefs Sunny Gilbert (ex MoVida Next Door head chef) and Scott Yeoman (MasterChef 2014) are winning over Darebin residents just weeks after openingThe Window Cnr Cafe on Mendip Rd.
Yeoman said simplicity was king for the constantly changing menu at the tiny cafe, tucked away next to a milk bar in a quiet backstreet.
“He (Sunny) created an amazing simple menu and now we’ve just adapted it and now I’m rolling with it and starting to implement different changes in the menu to really suit the area,” he said.
“Like jaffles are amazing, they’re one of our biggest sellers.
For Yeoman, working in Reservoir was a welcome return to his suburban childhood in Adelaide.
“I think me being an Adelaide boy has shone through, because I feel a lot more at home out here,” he said.
“I’m getting to know all the neighbours and their kids; it’s just an awesome vibe man. I love it. I love working here.”
From the humble jaffles to the 63-degree eggs with oak-smoked trout and the yoghurt and berries with freeze-dried mandarin, The Window Cnr Cafe is bringing a new flavour to Reservoir.
