Stirling Hotel in court over alleged food standards breaches

A STAPLE in grated cheese, a rubbish bin overflowing near food and a build up of dirt and grease are among Stirling Hotel’s alleged breaches of the Food Act.

Documents filed with the Adelaide Magistrates Court allege Adelaide Hills Council inspectors uncovered more than 30 breaches during two visits at the hotel, on March 11 and June 17, this year.

Some of the allegations include a staple found in grated cheese, an overflowing rubbish bin near food and a build up of “food waste, dirt, grease,” and other matter within the preparation areas.

Other alleged breaches include failing to have a hand washing facility in the staff toilet equipped with warm running water, and condiments not being kept under temperature control.

The hotel has indicated it will fight the charges.

The matter will return to court in November.
