‘People are going to freak about this’: Tella Ball Nutella dessert bar to open in Dulwich Hill

IF YOU love Nutella then you are going to love the latest announcement from the team behind the original Tella Ball milkshake.

The Foodcraft Espresso and Bakery shake creation was launched via social media earlier this year, and created waves with people travelling from everywhere to try the creation — a Tella Ball doughnut atop a Nutella milkshake.

But this latest announcement is set to create an even bigger reaction, and creators Aki Daikos and Simon Kappatos have been leaking teasers on to their Facebook pages for the past three weeks.

The team behind Foodcraft Espresso and Bakery are launching a dessert bar in Dulwich Hill, and it’s set to open in November.

“This place is going to be funky, warm, hipster, but also family-orientated,” Mr Daikos said.

The guessing game of the exact location in Dulwich Hill for the dessert bar has already begun, and Inner West Courier had an exclusive behind the scenes tour of the location.

“People are going to freak about this dessert bar,” Mr Daikos said.

“There will be plenty of Nutella and every Nutella product you can think of.

“There will be coffee machines down one side, next to a wall of sweets like Nutella cruffins, Nutella cheesecakes, and every creation you could think of, in a huge cabinet.”

Mr Kappatos said that they would also have a gelato bar, featuring Nutella and a range of other great flavours.

“Then on the back wall, we’re going to have Nutella crepes, waffles, pancakes, and of course we’ll have our Tella Ball doughnuts — and in 10 different flavours,” Mr Kappatos said.

“We’ll have in-store seating, and then this area outside too for outdoor dining.”

But Mr Kappatos said the biggest reveal would be a treat he’d been working on for six months.

“We’re the first to do it in Australia,” he said.

“It’s going to be totally different and I can’t tell you what, but it’s got something to do with dough.

“There will be Nutella in it, but there will be other flavours to.

“We really just wanted to bring something to Australia that will blow them away.”

“Here is the announcement you’ve all been waiting for: Tella Balls Dessert Bar,” the team posted to their Facebook page on Monday night.

“Did you read that correctly? Yes you did!

“Now wipe your chins and read on.”

The post went on to describe “a dessert bar to go totally nuts over” and “a dessert bar dedicated to all things Nutella and more”.

Mr Daikos and Mr Kappatos are claiming this is the first of it’s kind — anywhere.

“We will be announcing the location of our flagship store in the coming weeks,” they posted to Facebook.

“So stay tuned my sweet toothed friends for more information.”

“We want to do a big announcement in the coming weeks, and have one or two final things to sort before we announce it,” Mr Kappatos said.

But they are looking forward to meeting their neighbours already, and becoming part of a bustling new hub of eateries and community.

“I grew up in Dulwich Hill, and went to school here, and we’ve both grown up in the inner west,” Mr Daikos said.

“I’m excited to be back in my hood.”

The hashtags have already started flowing, and if internet hype is reflected in sales when the store opens, the Tella Boy lads are set for success.

#Nutella #tellaballsdessertbar #dessertporn #innerwest #dulwichhill and #coming soon are just some of the hashtags that have already started trending, and are set to set the tone in Sydney and surrounds this summer.

The men plan to run the dessert bar from 10am to 11pm, seven days per week.
