Jamie Oliver orders serve of graffiti

Celebrity chef Jamie Oliver is on the hunt for a budding local graffiti artist to make their mark on his much-anticipated Perth restaurant.

Oliver, a fan of street art, put out the call on Thursday night, tweeting, "Calling graffiti artists in Perth, Australia! Wanna make your mark in my new restaurant? Let's see what u've got!"

The artist Oliver picks will need to design two 2m by 2.6m works to install in March at Jamie's Italian in the one40william complex.

Graffiti dons the walls of Oliver's UK restaurants and three pieces by Sydney street artist Percy Mumbles feature in his Sydney restaurant.

Pacific Restaurant Group managing director Adam Heathcote said the art by Mumbles, who arrived on a skateboard and painted all night, was an "amazing talking point".

He said a couple of Perth artists had already submitted work.

"It is one of Jamie's pet things - he loves graffiti, always has," Mr Heathcote said. "What we would like is something that represents the city the restaurant is in."

Perth artist Kyle Hughes-Odgers, also known as Creepy, said he supported any project that encouraged creativity in art.

Jamie's Italian is scheduled to open late next month or early April.
