Fortitude Valley restaurant Eterna enters liquidation

The owners of Brisbane restaurant Eterna have been disqualified from running companies by Australia’s largest credit regulator, forcing the company into liquidation.

The popular Italian restaurant entered into liquidation last week after the Australian Taxation Office applied to wind up the company.

Recovery director Ashley Leslie of professional services firm Vincents’ was appointed by the court as the liquidator.

“We are currently reviewing the financial position of the company to assess the options available to preserve and maximise the value of the assets for the benefit of all stakeholders,” Leslie said.

“We will be engaging with stakeholders in the near future to determine the position going forward.”

Fortitude Valley's late-night hotspot aimed to bring traditional Roman cuisine to a high-end clientele.

Sydney restaurateurs Stefano De Blasi and Edoardo Perlo have been banned from managing corporations until 2027 by the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC).

This disqualification stems from the $2.8 million debt owed by three other Sydney food businesses they co-owned.

Their family investment companies have also been deregistered and are no longer searchable on the Australian Business Register.

Adding to the complexity, their restaurant Eterna was also part-owned by a seemingly mysterious third party, Vannella. Founded in 2015, Vannella shares the same business address as De Blasi's family investment companies.
