Restaurant worker bashed for badmouthing crime family

A staff member at a Greenacre restaurant in South-west Sydney has been bashed after badmouthing the Hamze family.

On June 27, Mr Alameddine was assaulted by Khaled Hamze because he was “talking shit” about the notorious crime family.

According to a police statement of facts tendered in Bankstown Local Court, Mr Alameddine suffered injuries to his face, neck, chest and ribcage.

The assault happened after Mr Alameddine was heard badmouthing the Hamze family. This led to Hamze and two companions, one male and one female, turning up outside the restaurant.

As the two men waited outside, the female entered the restaurant, confirmed Mr Alameddine’s identity, ordered a couple of drinks and invited him outside for a cigarette at which point Hamze grabbed him by the jumper and spoke to him in Arabic.

Mr Alameddine was then punched in the head two times by Hamze and was kicked in the ribcage with “extreme force”.

After the attack, Alameddine received treatment at Bankstown-Lidcombe Hospital.

Hamze pleaded guilty to the assault, however other charges including those of affray and being armed with intent to commit an indictable offence were withdrawn.

The attacker was sentenced on 10 September to a year-long intensive correction order, by which he be supervised by a community corrections officer and refrain from committing any offences.

Hamze will appear in the Parramatta District Court next Wednesday where he will appeal the sentence.
