Oncore by Clare Smyth set to open at Crown Sydney in July

Sydney’s Barangaroo area is about to become home to the highly anticipated Oncore by Clare Smyth.

The new restaurant is set to open in July 2021.

Three-Michelin star chef Clare Smyth, will open Oncore by Clare Smyth as the sister restaurant to Core in London.

The restaurant will have a heavy emphasis on sustainability and seasonality, with the menu to marry Smyth’s Irish heritage and English perspective with Australian ingredients.

When it comes to how she came up with the name, Smyth explained, “I named my first restaurant ‘Core’, as it is from the heart, a seed of something new, and has strong ties to nature.

“As the new restaurant will build upon the success of Core, it seems fitting to call it ‘Oncore’ – a play on the word ‘encore’.”

The restaurant will open in Sydney’s Crown complex on the 26th floor, located near Nobu Sydney, a’Mare and Silks.

It will have capacity to seat 68 diners and will offer magnificent views over the harbour.

Smyth’s tradition  of sourcing local, fresh produce is expected to continue.

Chef Alan Stuart has been working at Core London alongside Smyth in preparation for his role as Head Chef and will run the day-to-day operations of the restaurant.

Smyth recently became the first woman in Michelin history to have her restaurant awarded three stars in the UK.
