Balvenie to unveil Melbourne pop-up bar

William Grant & Sons will today launch The Balvenie Craft Bar, a pop-up bar in Melbourne celebrating Australian craftsmanship that will run from November 11 to 14.

Located in the Zenith Interiors showroom in the CBD, The Balvenie Craft Bar will showcase the Balvenie single malt Scotch whisky range as well as the talents of six different craftspeople who have contributed an element to the pop-up bar experience.

The bar (pictured below) has been hand built for the occasion by Kris and Kim Torma, metal smith Cinnamon Lee has created whisky flasks, guitar maker Tim Kill has hand crafted guitars for musicians at the bar, glass blower Ruth Allen has made bespoke whisky decanter and glass sets for the occasion, designer Brad Nicholls has built the bar stools, and cheese maker Nick Haddow will be matching his handcrafted cheeses to different Balvenie whiskies.

“The Balvenie is one of the only handcrafted malts in the world. Nowhere else will you find a distillery that still grows its own barley, that still malts in its own traditional floor malting and that still has coopers to tend the casks and a coppersmith to tend the stills,” said global brand ambassador, Sam Simmons.

“As such, we have a natural affinity with artisans who still ply their trade as they have done for decades. We’re extremely excited to be working with these craftspeople who share the same values as The Balvenie.”
