Judges seek out Limestone Coast top drop

Judging begins today (29th October) to find the best wines from across South Australia's Limestone Coast.

More than 370 entries have been received for the Limestone Coast Wine Show, showcasing red and white varieties.

A member of the wine show committee, Bruce Gregory, says wines will be judged over the next few days.

"What the judges will be looking for are the subtleties that you get from some of the cooler climate wines from throughout the Limestone Coast," he said.

"They'll be looking for the gentle aromatics that some of the whites will be giving and also the nice flavours that you can get from the shiraz and cabernet that come from throughout this region."

He says a range of wines will be judged.

"The range of entries come right across the Limestone Coast ... we've got Robe and Mount Benson, Wrattonbully, Bordertown, Coonawarra and Mount Gambier, so every region and almost every producer has put some wines in ... so we've had a good cross-section of exhibitors both large and small," he said.

Winners will be announced at a dinner on Thursday night.
