The Ivanhoe Hotel Manly Reopening

Manly-siders are in for a treat with the reopening of The Ivanhoe Hotel. After an 8-month closure for renovations, the Hotel is now open, welcoming crowds of all ages, styles and tastes into stylish surroundings with a beach theme.
Set over three floors, the Ivanhoe houses a total of 16 spaces. Owner Tim Peterson has certainly achieved his aim of creating a sophisticated haven for the community that is "a cut above" other pubs. Peterson engaged a team of esteemed and award winning food, bar and design consultants whose portfolios include Zeta Bar, Ku De Ta, The Beresford Hotel and the Intercontinental and Hyatt Hotels.
The ground and first floors incorporate seated dining and bar areas, as well as an outside area with large, cushioned chairs. The second floor has a rooftop bar set in warm tones of purples and pinks, a great spot to avoid the hustle and bustle of the lower floors on a Friday night and get some fresh air.
Inside, on the third floor is 'The Pines'; modelled on a retro surf club, the space is replete with ping pong bats, tennis racquets, a boat suspended in mid air and a mural of a surfing silhouette behind the DJ spot on the dance floor. The specialised woodwork was sourced from a Narrabeen local.
The food menu is the highlight at The Ivanhoe Hotel. It's clear that the team at The Ivanhoe have stuck by their purported philosophy of fresh, high quality and delicious produce. A wide range of dishes is on offer, including a substantial kids menu, although the main dishes will likely tempt many children.

It's hard to go past a burger or pizza. All the patties and pizza bases are handmade and include innovative versions such as the Chinese duck burger or the succulent Moroccan pizza. It was surprising, yet delightful, to find cashews atop a slice of the vege inspiration pizza.
The more adventurous, or hungrier, amongst us will no doubt jump at the opportunity of trying the salt and pepper crocodile with Asian salad or a whole spatchcock with roasted vegetables and rosemary jus. Takeaway meals can be ordered on the ground floor.

The cocktails will draw in many people, varying in style and flavour, from the Ivanhoe "Aussie BBQ" Mary to the Sorbet Sea Salt Margarita. The Apple Cider Sour is light and refreshing, with vodka, cider and fresh citrus poured over ice.
For those who don't live in the area, the Ivanhoe is another good reason to make a day of it in Manly. The Ivanhoe will suit most plans, whether you're hanging out with a few friends for dinner, planning a party of 20-300 people or having a family day with the kids. Catch the ferry over, have a swim at the beach, then chomp through a pizza and a few beers at the Ivanhoe before taking the beautiful ferry trip home.
