Sydney’s hospitality scene shines with extended late-night trading for Vivid Festival
Hospitality venues across inner Sydney will enjoy extended Sunday trading hours during Vivid Sydney, thanks to approval from the NSW Government. On three consecutive Sundays—May 25, June 1, and June 8—eligible hotels, bars, restaurants, clubs, breweries, and live entertainment venues in hotspots like The Rocks, Barangaroo, Pyrmont, Woolloomooloo, and Potts Point can stay open until midnight.
This move supports the success of Vivid Sydney by giving festival-goers more time to explore while boosting business for local venues. It’s part of the Chris Minns Government’s Special Event Extended Trading program, designed to energise major cultural and sporting events, and complements wider reforms aimed at revitalising NSW’s night-time economy.
A recent policy update also allows venues to apply for permanent Sunday trading until midnight, offering lasting benefits beyond the festival.
Extended hours during Vivid not only increase revenue and create jobs but also enhance Sydney’s vibrant night-life, making the city a safer, more exciting place to socialise, dine, and enjoy live entertainment after dark.
