The Grounds of Alexandria in Sydney tops Instagram restaurant rankings
The reputation of the Grounds of Alexandria, which opened in 2012, has grown to international acclaim and is now the world’s most Instagrammed restaurant, topping the list of most hashtagged eateries
Grounds of Alexandria beat out venues in London, Los Angeles and Paris to take out the title.
Venue’s director Ramzey Choker said, “For a restaurant in Sydney, Australia to be number one is wild.
“The other restaurants are celebrity hangout joints and the places that you see them leaving on the news every week, so we’re really pleased with the way our business is perceived online.”
The other restaurants referred to regularly host the likes of Taylor Swift, Kylie Jenner, Sophie Turner and Bella Hadid.
The Grounds was hashtagged 120,440 times on Instagram in 2023 according to Betway.
Its most popular photo spot is in front of the large water fountain.
Others to make the top 10 are Sketch in London, Catch in Los Angeles, Pink Mamma in Paris and The Salt Lick BBQ in Texas.
Diners are not only attracted to the Grounds’ food, but also to its themed installations, which have included Candyland, Alice in Wonderland and Secret Garden.
The next themed installation will be Circus and is set to launch this weekend.
“Everyday we talk about creating moments,” Choker said.
“It isn’t really about the 120,000 hashtags, for us it’s the 120,000 moments, that’s the reason we’re here.
“Today we’re out here in the rain creating a circus laneway for people to enjoy … but it’s worth it for every single customer that comes in.”
