Artesian Hospitality Announces Expansion from Seascape to Cityscape

The hospitality group behind Queensland icons, Cali Beach Club and Surfers Pavilion is ramping up its operations with the acquisition of multiple new locations, cementing the company’s status as Queensland’s largest hospitality group.

Artesian Hospitality has announced that it will take over multiple sites in Brisbane and the Gold Coast that will collectively be home to a variety of new venues slated for opening in summer 2022/23 and beyond.

The Brisbane acquisition places a firm stake in the ground as Artesian expands its footprint into the CBD bar and restaurant hospitality scene. It’s a move Artesian Hospitality’s Founder and Managing Partner, Matthew Keegan, describes as the next evolution in the company’s strategic expansion.

“We are excited to embark upon this new era of expansion which will see us introducing some marquee new venues to the Brisbane market,” he said.

“We are committed to delivering world class destinations and brands that are a staple of the local lifestyle from day through to night, and this new unique Brisbane precinct will epitomise our evolution of that belief.”

Artesian is one of Australia’s largest hospitality groups, currently employing over 500 staff and generating a collective annual revenue in excess of $50 million.

“Our strong foundations in South-East Queensland position us well as we undergo a strategic expansion into new destinations across Australia,” said Keegan.

“When opportunities arise for unique venues to shape the way people experience a destination, we’re taking steps to bring them to life as soon as possible.

Keegan said the group moved very quickly after the initial inspection of their new Brisbane site located at 740 Ann Street, home to the historic Fortitude Valley General Post Office building.

“We couldn’t pass up the opportunity restore this building and bring to life a variety of new and iconic Brisbane venues,” he said.

The Brisbane location will be the newest precinct for the group after they finished construction on the latest, luxury beachside inspired destination Cali Beach, which successfully opened during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic and has welcomed over half a million patrons since its completion in late September 2021.

“Our vision for the historical 2000sqm, multi building site in the thriving Fortitude Valley is to deliver a variety of unique experiential venues that patrons love to visit again and again. We’re remaining tight-lipped as to what exactly that will entail right now, but it won’t be long before we release that information,” Keegan says.

The coastal site in Surfers Paradise, located where Cali Beach is housed, is earmarked to be a multi-venue precinct featuring hospitality offerings that will take guests from day to night as well as later, a home to Artesian’s new corporate headquarters. As part of the deal the building will be renamed “Artesian House”. The first multi-story venue within the precinct is already under construction, with Keegan saying that specifics will be released in the coming months.

Excited about the acquisitions Keegan said “we see this expansion as a key step in solidifying our position as industry leaders nationally, with more acquisitions and partnerships to be announced over the coming months,” Keegan says.

With construction already underway, plans and details for the new Brisbane venue will be released in coming months.
