Victorian outback pub the Werrimull Hotel for sale along with secret sauce
Victoria’s most outback pub has been put up for sale along with its secret “outback sauce”.
Almost 600km from Melbourne, the family run hotel’s bar is held up with corrugated steel, Carlton Draught and Carlton Dry join Great Northern on tap, while a cabinet is full of local sporting trophies.
Vivian and Trevor Biggs have owned and run the pub for the past five years.
“It’s the furthest from the GPO in Melbourne, we are the last drinks between Mildura and Renmark, South Australia,” Biggs told News.com.au.
“But the locals are very good, they make you feel welcome. And it’s a great lifestyle where we can close at 4pm on Sunday and not open until Wednesday morning.
“We have the occasional South Australian beer, but we only usually do that when there are people from there doing contract work out here.”
The secret “outback sauce” is served with the pub’s parmigiana.
“I’m just a mum who cooks, so we don’t have any specialties, but we do a really good parmigiana with an outback sauce, it’s more of a barbecue sauce with bacon, without giving away all our secrets,” she said.
