Grease is the word for man trapped in vent of Chinese restaurant
A man spent two days trapped in the grease duct of an abandoned Chinese restaurant in California before being rescued.
The restaurant has been closed since October, but emergency services were called after a passerby heard a muffled call for help.
Firefighters climbed onto the roof of the abandoned restaurant, formerly called Chef Kwong's, to find the 29-year-old man covered in grease and oil, and stuck in a vent running down to the rangehood above the stoves.
The Alameda County Sherriff's Office said the man was "physically exhausted and suffering from dehydration" after his ordeal and would likely not have a survived a third day trapped.
"At this time, we are conducting a trespassing and vandalism investigation," a police spokesman said.
"It is unknown if the suspect intended to commit a burglary."
