Sydney’s GPO building to be home for new Fullerton Hotel

The Westin Sydney is to be rebranded Fullerton Hotel Sydney following last year’s $150 million acquisition of the property by international property developer Far East.

Located in the historic GPO building in Sydney’s CBD, the rebrand will involve a restoration of the sandstone building’s façade. The Fullerton Hotel Sydney will be the group's first overseas property.

Cavaliere Giovanni, general manager of the Fullerton Hotel Singapore, said his company had a responsibility as "dedicated custodians" of the building, with all the restoration to be carried out according to NSW Heritage Management Plan and safety regulations.

No plans for the new hotel have been released but the building's lower level restaurant and cafe area is likely to undergo a major upgrade, along with the building's retail amenities.
