Bittersweet end as Adriano Zumbo’s company placed in voluntary administration
Dessert king Adriano Zumbo’s patisserie company has been placed into voluntary administration with rumours it owes creditors up to $10 million.
The news came as a shock to most, with Zumbo having forged a loyal fan base of sweet toothed foodies with appearances on multiple TV shows including MasterChef and a slew of books.
However, signs that things weren’t quite as glossy as the glaze on one of his iconic cakes surfaced last year following a report by A Current Affair that alleged the company failed to pay some employees superannuation, claimed to have paid money into accounts that didn’t exist, fabricated policy numbers and failed to pay overtime to workers.
However, the 36-year-old celebrity pâtissier is reported to have $8 million worth of assets, inclusive of equipment and company owned property. Zumbo has yet to make any official statement.
