Rockpool and Sake come to Parramatta

The big news in Parramatta is that the Rockpool dining group will be opening premier eateries there.

Coronation Property has made the big announcement that there will be a development on 8 Phillip Street that will create  Rockpool Bar and Grill and Saké.

It will be Parramatta’s first five star hotel.

This is an important development in the area which has lacked any high dining restaurants.

“No longer do food connoisseurs, or those simply wanting a nice evening out, need to travel lengthy distances to experience a higher standard in dining,” Aras Labutis, development manager at Coronation told Broadsheet.

The aim, he said, was to turn Parramatta into one of Sydney’s leading food and business destinations.

“The agreement with Rockpool Dining Group will raise the bar for the greater Western Sydney dining scene, and serves to confirm the importance of Parramatta’s ‘Eat Street’ precinct in the broader local community,” Labutis said.

It means Rockpool Bar and Grill menus in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth will be on offer for the first time in Parramatta. And it will be high end food too with fresh seafood or dry aged steak on the menu at more than $200.

The two restaurants will be housed in a lavish skyscraper built by Coronation. They’ll both be located at the bottom of the tower.

Labutis said the tower will also include a QT restaurant.

There will also be a 600-person rooftop bar, all part of an entertainment precinct which includes Sydney’s highest rooftop venue, Studio 54. In addition to that, there will be another bar and grill restaurant run by QT.

“The onsite hotel will also feature multiple meeting and event spaces and a ballroom seating 200 people,” Labutis said.

At this stage, there is no opening date for the development which is a Woods Bagot design. But work is expected to be finished in 2020.
