UberEATS expands around Australia

UberEATS, the service that deliver all kinds of food to your door, is on the move and expanding around Australia.

It even comes with an app that includes a ratings system.

Following its launch in Melbourne in April and Sydney in August, UberEATS is now setting up operations in Brisbane, Adelaide in Perth. Canberra, Hobart and Darwin are next on the list.

And in less than a few months, UberEATS has had a real impact in Australia.

Melbourne is ranked as one of the top five most popular locations for UberEATS right around the world. It’s right up there with Toronto, London, Los Angeles and San Francisco.

And Australia boasts the most highly awarded restaurants on UberEATS of any country.

The model for UberEATS is simple enough: it allows thousands of restaurants around the city to deliver to customers. Melbourne restaurants and cafes with UberEATS include Entrecote, Etto. Burger Boys and Claypots Barbarossa. Sydney venues include Almond Bar, Al-Rayyan Indian Restaurant, Almustafa Restaurant and Café Bondi & Dumplings.

In Brisbane, it will include hatted restaurants such as Saké and Esquire, family restaurants like Mister Fitz and Doughnut Time, and places like Ben's Burgers and Kwan Brothers.

It’s critical for restaurants because 30 per cent of the ones on UberEATS have never done home delivery before. Which opens new markets for them.

"Brisbane has been leading the Australian food scene for some time, whether it's the explosion of local businesses like Doughnut Time or the consistently awarded hatted local restaurants," Uber Queensland general manager Sam Bool told the Brisbane Times.

"UberEATS looks to not just deliver local favourites that we love, but also food from top-end restaurants as well."

"We want to ensure the food is as close to restaurant quality as possible," Mr Bool said.

"Using sealed bags we can ensure quick delivery and food like it's being served at a restaurant."
