Perth’s Elizabeth Quay Ritz-Carlton hotel and Towers apartments underway

The first development since the opening of Elizabeth Quay in Perth is underway.

Construction work on the Ritz-Carlton hotel and The Towers apartment building began this week with WA Premier Colin Barnett on hand to turn the first sod at the $400 million project.

The plan is to build 379 luxury apartments and 204 hotel rooms, adjacent to the Bell Tower. It will be sitting on 200,000s square metres of commercial and 25,000 square metres of retail space.

The development will change Perth bringing luxury 5-star accommodation, dining, entertainment and retail options to Perth’s waterfront.

Built by Australian company Probuild, the complex is expected to open in 2019.

The project will create 1200 jobs.

Mr Barnett said his government had already attracted high-quality accommodation providers to Perth. These included The Ritz-Carlton, COMO The Treasury, Crown Towers and the Westin hotel.

Also, 95 per cent of the $300 million worth of apartments have been been snapped up by WA investors off the plan.

Visitors to Perth are attracted by our city’s best natural assets, the Swan River and Kings Park, and their experience is enriched through quality accommodation, exceptional public transport and great hospitality,” Mr Barnett told reporters.

“All of this will be on offer at Elizabeth Quay.

“Elizabeth Quay has been embraced by West Australians and has already become an integral part of the Perth city skyline, so it will be exciting to see it change and evolve over the coming years.”

The building which will feature floor-to-ceiling glass and round building shapes to maximise river views has been designed by Cottee Parker Architects

Apartment residents will be able to open a two-to-three metre section of their external wall to experience a new version of outdoor living by using Winter Garden Louvres.

The building will have a six-star rating.

This will ensure the best possible acoustic, thermal, energy efficiency and water saving technology.
