Restaurant's new blood is well received

YOUNG Ipswich businesswoman Sofiia Kemp's bold move to take over the Viva Italia restaurant in the Top of Town has earned positive feedback on the QT Facebook page.

Mrs Kemp worked as the manager of the Brisbane St Italian restaurant for eight months before taking over the reins from previous owner Anthony Stanton in early November.

The 26-year-old will draw on her years of experience in the hospitality industry, in which she has worked in five star restaurants and hotels before relocating to Ipswich.

Mrs Kemp said that under her ownership, the restaurant would make its own dough, ravioli, gnocchi and bake bruschetta bread fresh on site.

If nothing else, the change in ownership seemed to tantalise the taste buds of some of the QT's followers, with several people tagging loved ones in for a possible dinner in the near future.

Carol Meehan posted: "Kaitlyn - new things on the menu. We should try it again soon."

Robyn Hall also said she'd be keen to try the restaurant: "Good!! We'll go back there now."

Libbi Wright also tagged a mate: "Might be time to check it out again Chris Profke."

Heather L Barnes was positive about the restaurant under the previous ownership: "We went in August and was great staff friendly and very attentive."

If all goes well, Mrs Kemp will work toward expanding the restaurant's outdoor deck area.

"We'd love to have Sundays on the deck and bring in the younger clientele as well. It's a beautiful space," she said.
