Raye of sunshine for local cafe-goers

THE hotly anticipated new addition to Bassendean’s cafe strip, Holly Raye’s cafe, opened last week to plenty of fanfare.

Former flight attendant Holly Irving took the plunge and gave up her 10-year career to open the cafe that serves all-day breakfast and healthy smoothies made on the premises.

Mrs Irving had a few lend a hand to get her dream cafe off the ground with her husband Tim providing his carpentry skills, while her sister Meg Barker is a barista and their cafe-owning parents offered support and expertise.

Originally scheduled for a September 22 opening, Holly Raye’s doors officially opened to the public on October 6 when it filled with locals eager to check the place out.

Mrs Irving said the process was an exciting and scary venture.
