A recently completed upgrade at Parkes TAFE College has improved the facilities for Hospitality teachers and students. The Hospitality section’s Dining Room has been upgraded and expanded to include an area for outdoor dining.
Parkes College Administrator, Mary Nicholson said, “These improvements enable students’ to develop their skills in a realistic setting and provide their customers a more enjoyable dining atmosphere.
“The extra seating also allows for a greater number of customers and the recently completed Certificate III Hospitality students have already demonstrated the advantages by participating in a number of functions that would not otherwise have been possible.
“These functions as well as the TAFE café which ran at various times throughout the year have given students practical “hands on” experience.
“This year, Parkes TAFE will offer Certificate II and III in Hospitality as well as Certificate IV in Hospitality – (Catering Operations/Supervision).
“The new course, not previously offered at Parkes, is for people who want to work in catering. They will become qualified to work as a catering supervisor in hotels, motels, cafes, restaurants, clubs and function centres.
“The course provides students with the chance to learn to develop hospitality, financial and food preparation skills as well as leadership and managerial knowledge.
“It is a full time course and the newly refurbished dining room will greatly assist students to providing a memorable dining experience for their customers.”
